Homecoming Court: Meet your 2025 Candidates


Eureca Yamba
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When I found out that I was chosen for homecoming court, I felt so honored. Soon after I heard my name, I started shaking, and I couldn’t stop smiling because it meant so much to me. It made me feel really supported by my classmates and grateful for the opportunity to represent my school.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are spending time with family and friends, baking and participating in track and field.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: After high school, I plan to continue my education in college, explore different career opportunities and keep finding ways to stay involved in the community.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Ms. Jordahl. I would tell her that she has inspired me to always believe in myself and push through challenges. Her encouragement has truly made a difference in my life.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I want the student body to know how thankful I am for their support. Homecoming is a chance for all of us to come together, show school spirit, and make great memories. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!
Romeo Hill
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was definitely surprised I made it on the list. I felt happy and excited, and most of all proud that I get to represent my school during my senior year.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Skateboarding, writing poetry and performing.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I plan to go to college at Roosevelt University to study criminal justice to become a private investigator
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: Freese, I would tell him that his assistance and motivation helped me love math and want to learn it. It overall helped me make math my easiest subject.

Esther Shin
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was surprised and was excited to have my close friends on court with me!
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Spending time with my family and friends, traveling with family and a sunny day with a cool breeze.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: After high school, I plan to attend a private university and study business and international relations and hopefully study abroad.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: Ms. Even is my favorite teacher and I’d like to tell her that her teaching made me realize that math could actually be a fun concept to learn, of course, after you understand the concept.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I’m very approachable, so feel free to say hi!
Benjamin Young
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was a little surprised at first, but it was definitely an exciting moment. I was proud to be selected by my peers, and I hope I’ve made a positive impact so far through my four years here at West.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Sports, traveling and hanging out with family and friends.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Attend a four-year out-of-state university with intentions to major in Business Management and/or Sports Management.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher was Mr. McNally. He made for a fun learning environment and made history interesting. He was also a great swim coach, just a legend overall.

Irma Mujic
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When I found out I was chosen for homecoming court, I was so shocked. But I was mainly so excited to be on the court with my best friend, Chloe.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are swimming, hanging with friends and family and and fall weather.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to attend UNI or IOWA to become an orthodontist.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is definitely Mr. Kahl, he is such a kind and heartfelt person. I would tell him that he encouraged me to do my work, even when times were rough, and I am forever grateful that I had him as a teacher.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I would like the student body to know that I am passionate about all the things I do.
Admir Dedic
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When I found out I was chosen for homecoming court, I was happy to hear my name and the names of my friends.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are food, soccer and playing video games.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: After high school, I plan to play soccer at a competitive level while pursuing a degree in Business Management.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher at West High is Ms. Knight. When I had her, she was really fun and funny. I looked forward to her class every day.

Chloe Heiser
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I felt overwhelmed with joy and excitement when I found out I was on court.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Dancing, spending time with my family and friends and doing hair and makeup.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I plan on going to Capri College for Cosmetology.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: Mrs. Ruden is my favorite teacher. She genuinely understands her students, and I can talk to her about anything. She also always complimented me when I had her as my Spanish teacher.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I am on the West High Dance Team and I am the team captain, I have been on the team all four years.
Tucker Satterlee
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When I found I was chosen for court, I was excited for the experience.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three things are my family, friends and football.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: After high school, I plan to go to college and continue playing football.

Lovettee Yeanay
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I felt special. You have to be a good student to be chosen, and I would like to thank everyone for voting for me. Being on the court is hard for some students, but I made it, so it’s just an honor.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are JROTC, music and school.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to become a Nurse or a stay-at-home mom.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: I love all my teachers, but the two teachers who changed my life were my middle school teacher, Ms. Bajramovic, and my Air Force JROTC teacher, Mr. Wallace (Chief). Ms. Bajramovic was always there for me when I was having a bad day and always made me feel like the best student ever; she treats all her students like her children. Chief Wallace has always been there for me since I entered West High. He really changed my life and is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I would like to tell my fellow students not to give up, not to listen to negative people, and always listen to positive people around you. People told me I wouldn’t win homecoming court, but I believe in myself, always value yourself.
Carson Nielsen
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was surprised when I found out.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are football, lifting and my cats.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Go to IOWA and play football.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mr. Cassidy. I would tell him that he helps make every day a good day.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: Come to the games and be loud.

Harrietta Menjay
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was literally shocked because we were in Spanish when they announced the court, and two of my classmates had already been announced. I wasn’t really expecting to get on court, but I’m very happy that I am. I kind of just pushed myself out of my comfort zone and put myself out there! I’ve always admired the homecoming courts before me, so to be on it is like the cherry on top.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top favorite things are music, meeting new people, and traveling. I’ve always loved music, singing, and dancing, especially, I’m a very universal listener. I also enjoy meeting new people of all backgrounds, and I find other people’s experiences very insightful and interesting. And lastly, I LOVVVEEEE to travel. Ever since I was a kid, my mother has taken us to so many places. I love seeing how other countries differ from the United States and the culture, food and language.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to move back to Atlanta, Georgia, and attend Clark Atlanta University as an undergraduate to study Business Administration while still working as a CNA at Emory University Hospital in Midtown Atlanta.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Ms. Tigges. During my elementary years and middle school, Ms. Tigges was a big mentor to me, and although I haven’t seen her in two years, there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her and how she’s helped me become the wonderful young lady I am today. I would tell her, “Thank you for all you did for me and my education.”
Brett McGovern
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was excited to find out I was on court; it’s an honor, and I’m happy to be able to do it with my teammates and friends.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Minnesota Vikings, Baseball and watching movies with my family.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Go to a four-year college to play baseball and study sports broadcasting.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mr. Dabney. He is a great motivator, and he is big on loyalty. His guidance has made me a better athlete, but more importantly, a better man.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: COME TO THE FOOTBALL GAMES AND BE LOUD!

Isabella Duell
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was shocked and so proud of myself for being someone well-liked enough for people to vote me on court!
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are being with friends and family, traveling and shopping.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: After high school, I plan on going to school to become a Child Life Specialist.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mama Ruden. I think she inspired me to be brighter and bubblier.
Melakhi Hickey
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: What the heck.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Music, exercise and Bella.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Play football in college.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: Thoma taught me to appreciate the little things.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: Lávate las manos.

Hannah Bagby
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When they announced my name, I was happy that other people thought I should be on court.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are hanging out with my friends and teammates, playing softball and visiting new places.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school include getting my degree in education, starting with special education, then moving into teaching elementary through middle school.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mr. Cassidy. I would tell him how grateful I am that he has looked out for me for four years. His passion to help students and athletes does not go unnoticed.
Deztin McMurrin
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was kind of in shock, to be honest. Nothing really went through my mind.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: Family, football and friends.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Play football in college, study business and law.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: Mr. Thoma has definitely pushed me to be my best and be a better person in general.

Amy Perez-Calderon
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: I was surprised. I didn’t really think I was going to make it on. I was also excited because Esther got elected, and she’s one of my closest friends, so I’m glad I get to experience this with her.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: My top three favorite things are clothes, money and minions.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to go to college and study to be a dental hygienist. I also hope to travel the world during breaks and expand my knowledge of different cultures.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mrs. McLean. If I could tell her one thing about how she changed my life, she would never hear the end of it. I appreciate McLean so much, and I feel that she’s the reason I’m where I am today. She pushed me out into the world and showed me how to become a better version of myself, someone more confident and outstanding.
Q: Anything you would like the student body to know about you or homecoming this year?
A: I would like the student body to dress up for spirit week and show more spirit overall throughout the school year. As someone on the student senate, I always dress up, and I think it’s something students are usually shy to do, but it’s not as scary as it seems.
Kavan Bennett
Q: What went through your head when you found out you were chosen for homecoming court?
A: When I found out I was on court, I was honestly shocked. It’s a privilege to be on the court, and I didn’t see myself as popular enough to make the court.
Q: What are your top three favorite things?
A: One of my favorite things is playing on Friday nights with my boys. Another thing is family. I enjoy spending time with my family. My last favorite thing is being active. I hate being stuck in the house, not being able to do anything.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to go play college football and study accounting or automotive tech.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher, and if you could tell them one thing about how they changed your life, what would it be?
A: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Bryant. She is my favorite because when I came in as a freshman, I was scared to take Spanish. She made Spanish so easy, Mrs. Bryant and I built a bond I definitely needed. She was there when I needed her the most. The one thing I would tell mrs Bryant is thank you for everything you’ve done for me.
