On November 21st at 7 p.m. Waterloo West’s annual Winter Kick Off went into full swing, including a performance by the West High Cheerleaders and Dance Team. Winter sports were introduced by students and announcers, including girls and boys basketball, bowling, hockey, boys swimming, and wrestling.

Hundreds of participating students and coaches were given the honor of announcing themselves, grade and in one instance their height. Girls and boys basketball players scrimmaged in front of parents and the student body while cheerleaders performed two of their popular cheers, “Clappy” and “Marching.” As the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association (ISDTA) state competition approaches for the West High Dance Team, they performed two of their choreographed dances, “Our Songs” and “Where da Hood At”.

The Winter Kick Off was a success, and the West High community is thankful for the support from our families, sponsors, coaches, and so many more. We are also grateful for the opportunity to have such an event with such a large outcome.
