Donald Trump elected as the 47th President of the United States
Donald J. Trump was born on June 14, 1946, to parents Fred and Mary Trump. Trump’s father, Fred, was a well-known real estate agent and businessman in New York’s heart. Born to two German immigrants from a young age Fred saw his potential and began to develop single-family housing in Queens and apartments for war workers on the East Coast. Soon Trump would follow in his father’s footsteps becoming a businessman and taking over the Trump Organization in 1973. Trump would develop many empires that would fall victim to bankruptcy.
This long lack of success continued when Trump decided to run for president in 2000, eventually dropping out of the race. Sixteen years later, Trump would again run for president with his running mate, Mike Pence. In November 2016, Trump shocked the world when he won the electoral college vote and beat Hillary Clinton, becoming the 45th president of the United States.
During President Joe Biden’s term, he began to fall ill struggling with an irregular heartbeat, sensory peripheral neuropathy, as well as sleep apnea. Biden, aged 81, planned to run for a second term after his first term ended. In late July, with only a few months until election day, Biden decided to drop out of the race and not seek re-election. Donald Trump announced his re-run in late 2022, leaving the world wondering who was fighting for the democratic party. Following closely behind President Biden, Kamala Harris, the current Vice President announced her campaign for President on July 21, 2024.
On Wed., Nov 6, 2024, Donald Trump was announced as the 47th President of the United States, beating Vice President Harris. Trump will be inaugurated on Jan 20, 2025. Trump has won the Electoral College vote by 312 and had 73,000,000 American votes. By winning states like Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida Trump’s chances of winning skyrocketed. Trump has already begun making his plans for his presidency. Holland & Knight says, “President-Elect Donald Trump is poised to expand upon policies he implemented during his first term in office, such as those emphasizing limited government, states’ rights, and lower taxes.”
Additionally, it is anticipated that the newly elected president and his administration will target many Biden Administration policies on the environment, immigration, foreign policy and more. Many of these actions could be set forth by executive order in the initial days and weeks of a second Trump Administration.” Trump has turned the electoral map red and within the next few months, Americans will be waiting for what comes next for our future President.
