Sydney Wilson

Sydney Wilson has been bowling for 12 years, four of them at West High. On top of this, Wilson has also been playing softball for 11 years, being a part of the West High softball team for five seasons now.

After receiving offers from Upper Iowa and Hawkeye Community College, Wilson committed to Iowa Central for both bowling and softball. As a two year college, Wilson believes Iowa Central is the best choice for her and the beginning of her college career. “And they gave me the most money,” she states.

Entering into college sports, Wilson is most ready for next level competition, she shares that she is excited to learn from the harder players and coaches.

As Wilson commits for two different sports, she shares how she knows the upcoming change will be difficult, but believes that with the right work ethic she will persevere. “Being a two-sport athlete will help my chances going forward,” she shares.

Though she is leaving West High behind, Wilson says that her time here has improved her mental and physical ability for both of her sports. As she says goodbye to her high school career she says she will miss the people the most, “From friends to teammates, they all have helped me grow as a person and player.”

Wilson has been recognized as a first place state bowler in the 2021-22 school year and a third place finish in the 2022-23 school year.
