The Cat’s Out of the Bag: Cat Dissection

Sophia Witte, Reporter

West High’s Human Anatomy and Physiology students began dissecting their mail-ordered cats Thursday, May 4. Cats are preferred to dissect, as they have greater semblance to the human body and are less costly than other cadavers. With the purpose of studying the muscular system during the closing semester, students first skinned the cats, then cut and separated the cat’s muscles to reveal their relative position on the body.
