On January 25th, students in the Human Anatomy course dissected sheep hearts for their unit on heart anatomy.
Over the two-semester class, students get to dissect a sheep kidney, a sheep heart, and lastly a dead cat. Each dissection is based on the unit the class is covering at the time. Senior Zach Hall describes the experience as “weird but interesting. Getting to cut open the heart and see everything on the inside was really cool.” Although dissecting a sheep’s heart is not your typical frog dissection, it is a great learning experience for those wanting to go into the medical field to start learning how to work with larger body parts and organs.
