Jahlil Manago, a senior at West High School has been a part of the boy’s basketball since he was a freshman. Standing at 6’5, Managos primary position is shooting guard but has shown he is capable of being a dynamic playmaker as the point guard as well. In the 2023-2024 season Manago averaged 19.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game making him a crucial player for the team. As the shooting guard Manago is able to score in various ways all the way from a three point shot to a dunk especially in close games when the opposing team is playing close defense. He is currently on the Martin Bros AAU team and has been invited to various camps to further improve his abilities as a playmaker for West High, one of which being the CP3 camp started by NBA player Chris Paul.
Ever since he was just three, Manago has loved the game of basketball from the feeling of thrill and excitement of being on the court all the way to the satisfaction of shooting the basketball into the hoop. But, the person behind it all was Manago’s father, he shares “My dad has been my biggest inspiration when it comes to basketball. He introduced me to the game at a very early age and has been by my side helping me and encouraging me to be the best player I can.”
Manago currently holds a total of seven Division One offers from South Carolina Upstate (USC Upstate), Tulane, North Dakota (UND), South Dakota (USD), Southern University, Wake Forest and the University of Indianapolis. While these are his current offers there is always a possibility of gathering more during his senior season. Manago shared that his dream college is Baylor University located in Waco Texas, “Growing up I had always loved watching their basketball team, I also love the campus and environment of Texas.”
