Jada Smith is a senior at West High. Throughout her time here she has been a part of the Wahawk Volleyball team. Volleyball is something that she is very passionate and determined about.
Smith was honored to be nominated and chosen for the award. “It made me feel respected and reassured because all my hard work over the years had paid off,” Smith stated. To accomplish something so big made her feel that people looked up to her and were inspired to continue to push themselves regardless of just playing Volleyball.
The award is impactful in different aspects. It is an honor not only within the school but also within the Waterloo community. To be recognized and in the spotlight for all of her hard work is an amazing achievement and something to be proud of.
For Smith’s upcoming future, this will remind her to keep going when things become hard. This award is something to keep and it will remind her of the many accomplishments made while at West High School. Smith has committed to Northwest Missouri State University and will attend next fall to pursue her volleyball career.
Of course, the West Volleyball team will continue, and Smith vocalized, “This means that more people from West will be earning MVP and it shows the hard work we all put in because I wouldn’t have been nominated if it wasn’t for them!” Volleyball will always be a commitment to fellow Wahawks and a fun fulfilling activity that is about supporting and lifting each other when things are easy, but also when things can get difficult.
The MVP award is the Most Valuable Player meaning a specific individual who is on an athletic sports team shows exceedingly good performance. When noticed, the coach or whoever may observe the player can nominate them for the award.
Smith has gone far in working hard and persevering in volleyball. Her hard work has shown the outcome of receiving many opportunities and great achievements.
