Halloween On The 29th?

Josian Turner, Reporter

The well-know holiday of Halloween is a day of fear, fun, and tooth decay. Enjoyed by kids and adults alike it is one of the most popular holidays. Halloween typically is celebrated on October 31st, the last day of the month. This year Waterloo’s Mayor Quentin Hart and Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green have decided that Halloween should take place on the 29th.

As apposed to the 31st which takes place on a Monday, this year kids will be up late on Saturday instead of the night before school. If kids were to celebrate on the 31st, parents would also be up later making it a frustrating experience for everyone. Saturday gives more flexibility to tight schedules with no school or work for the majority the next day. The time trick or treating takes place is also earlier, taking place from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Overall Halloween being changed to the 29th is a welcomed one. It accommodates parent schedules and allows kids to properly celebrate Halloween.
