The movie does a great job of showing Michael Jackson’s rise from a young performer to a global icon. The acting was convincing, and the musical performances were some of the strongest parts of the film. I liked how the movie included many of his most famous songs and career moments. It also showed some of the challenges and pressures that came with being in the spotlight whether that be his struggles with his father or his struggles being a perfectionist, they showed every inch of those feelings and I think that’s important .
The pacing of the movie was mostly good, although a few scenes felt rushed and could have used more detail, and I would have liked to go farther into his life but I understand they’re using that for the next movie.
The costumes and set designs helped recreate different periods of his life and made the story feel realistic, especially showing each bit of detail with things like the ominous feeling during Thriller with his dark red jacket and gray face. Or his black jacket with sparkles and his iconic sparkle glove.
Overall, the movie kept my attention and helped me understand more about Michael Jackson’s impact on music and culture. I also think that Jaafar Jackson (his nephew) played his part incredibly well and I don’t think anyone could have done as good as he did.
